Youth charged and three bailed following city taxi driver robberies
Police have charged one youth and bailed three others in connection with two taxi driver robberies that happened in the city this week.
The first incident happened on Sunday January 15, when a taxi driver was robbed of his belongings and car by a group of four men in Thurcaston Road.
They were described as using two guns to threaten the victim but he was not injured. Officers have since recovered one gun they believe to have been involved in the incident.
The second incident happened in Trent Avenue on Monday evening (January 16) when a second taxi driver was robbed of his belongings and car by a group of three men.
The victim was threatened with knives during the incident but was not injured.
Both stolen cars have now been recovered.
Three youths, two aged 16-years-old and one aged 17, were arrested and have since been released on police bail.
A fourth youth, aged 17-years-old, has been charged with two counts of robbery, carrying an offensive weapon and being in possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is due to appear at Leicester Youth Court this morning.
