Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 64-year-old woman fell from her bike during an assault in Blaby.

The incident happened at approximately 9.30pm on Friday September 9, when the victim heard a man shouting something to her from across the road, in Welford Road near to the junction with Hospital Lane.

The man then crossed the road and pulled at the womans bike, causing her to fall to the ground.

The man then threatened the victim before walking away down the alleyway that links Welford Road and The Crescent.

The woman received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The man has been described as being white, aged in his mid-thirties to forties, of stocky build with a round face. He was wearing jeans and a polo shirt and appeared to have blood on his face.

Officers are looking into the possibility that the same man was involved in an altercation with a group of young adults at a Bouskell Park just prior to the incident.

PC Nick Taylor, the investigating officer, said: The victim was extremely shocked and upset and hopes that the public will be able to help us find the man responsible.

That same night we had a report that a man similar to the one described was involved in an altercation at Bouskell Park, where he attempted to assault a group of young adults. We are looking into the possibility that these two incidents involve the same man.

If you were in Blaby that night you may have seen the man described. Perhaps you know him, maybe he is a friend or colleague of yours. If so please call us and help us with our enquiries.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 845 Nick Taylor on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0845. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
