Savings sparked by energy conservation

Energy saving measures being made at County Hall are helping to save thousands of pounds a year and cut carbon emissions.

The installation of new technology at the site is helping the County Council save more than 24,000 a year.

The same technology is also saving an additional estimated 11,200 a year at Snibston Discovery Museum.

The equipment monitors the electricity supply and reduces the voltage to 220v, making it more efficient.

Peter Osborne, County Council Cabinet Member for Climate Action, said: We are constantly looking at ways to help reduce our bills and our energy consumption and this technology is an example of how we can achieve this.

We believe it is good value for money we estimate it will take just over two years to pay back the investment and the savings will be ongoing.
