Crime prevention event in Burbage
The neighbourhood beat team for Burbage is holding a crime prevention advice afternoon for local residents.
A specialist crime prevention officer; local neighbourhood officers and local CID officers will be available on Herald Way in the village between 2pm and 6pm on Friday May 27th 2011.
They will be giving practical advice on securing your home. There will also be a limited amount of crime prevention items available at cost price, including auto telephone diallers and shed alarms and a limited number of timer switches which are free.
Commander of Hinckley and Bosworth local policing unit, Inspector Rich Ward said; We are continually trying to reduce crime and opportunities from criminals to commit crime. The local community plays a crucial part in crime prevention, so if we can better educate the local community in taking simple and effective crime prevention measures then we reduce the opportunity for criminals to operate, which is a good thing.
As an example of how effective the partnership can be between the police and local communities in tackling local crime, we recently acted on a call from a local resident about suspicious activity and three men from the Coventry and Bedworth area were detained by police and charged with the offence of going equipped.
