Officers from Leicestershire Constabularys serious collision investigation unit have named the man who died in a collision on the A47 in Leicestershire at the weekend.

The collision occurred just after 10pm on Sunday May 8, on the A47 in the parish of East Norton, near Belton, Leicestershire and involved three vehicles, a blue Ford Mondeo estate, a black Renault Megane Scenic and a white DAF lorry.

One of the two passengers in the Scenic, 44-year-old Mr David Diaper of Whestone, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Scenic was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, her current condition has been described as stable.

The second passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where she remains.

The driver of the Mondeo was taken to Peterborough Hospital with serious injuries, his current condition has been described as critical.

The passenger in the Mondeo was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, her current condition has been described as stable.

DC Seamus Burns is investigating the collision, he said: The Mondeo was towing a caravan and was travelling eastbound and the Megane and lorry were travelling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

We would urge anyone who was travelling along the A47 in the East Norton area on Sunday evening to contact us if they witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles beforehand. Any information, no matter how small, could help with our investigations.
