County council wins safety award
A county council department has won a prestigious national award for 10 years of success in health and safety.
Leicestershire County Councils Adults and Communities department has won the Presidents award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPAs) health and safety contest, for 10 years of achieving gold awards.
This means the council joins the ranks of Rolls Royce, Shell and Coca Cola, as organisations to have won the award.
David Rawlins, RoSPAs awards manager, said: Leicestershire County Council 's Adults and Communities Department has shown that it is committed to striving for continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of this award.
Mick Connell, director of the Adults and Communities department, said: "I am delighted that we have been successful in receiving this award. This award builds on our strong track record of success, where we are a highly rated authority for adult social care and a number of our museums have won awards."
David Sprason, cabinet lead member for the department, said: " I would like to congratulate the team who have worked hard for many years to achieve this prestigious award. It is down to a can do and common sense approach by all involved and I would like to send my personal thanks to the team, I am proud of them"
The President's award will be presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on Thursday, May 19th.
