Oadby and Wigston Crime Figures
Posted on 13/04/11
Oadby and Wigston Crime Figures
Crime across Oadby and Wigston has fallen by 16.4% - which is 590 fewer victims of crime.
The end of year figures show that crime across all offences is down from last year. House burglaries are down by 35% (71 fewer victims than last year) and theft from motor vehicles is down by 8% (14 fewer victims than last year). Other excellent results include violent crime down by 26.3% (75 fewer victims than last year) and robbery is down by 28.2% (11 fewer victims than last year).
Reports of anti-social behaviour have also seen a significant reduction of 26.6% (622 fewer victims) this reporting year and will continue to be an area of focus.
Oadby and Wigston figures mirror those for the entire Force which show that across Leicestershire and Rutland crime has fallen by 12.2% which amounts to 9,980 fewer victims of crime.
Inspector Jed Keen, Commander of Oadby and Wigston Local Policing Unit, said; In these times of budgetary constraints, we have had to make difficult choices about how best to deliver the policing you deserve, whilst significantly reducing our expenditure. One major step for Oadby and Wigston has been working closely with our partners to share resources and collaborate on problems with other agencies.
We have also managed to find shared offices in the heart of the community for some of our Neighbourhood Teams with assistance from South Wigston College, Beauchamp College and Leicester University Campus Oadby.
It is only with the collective efforts of us, you the community and our partneragencies that we have achieved these excellent results and I am confident they will continue for the rest of this year and beyond.
