Leicestershire's cracking Easter Eggs-travaganza

Dozens of fantastic events are taking place in Leicestershire over Easter to keep the whole family entertained. Theres even a chance for one lucky visitor to win a family day pass to Snibston Discovery Museum and Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre - the Countys flagship tourist attractions! (Pick up a leaflet in any county library or museum to enter or download a copy from: www.leics.gov.uk/easterfunleaflet2011.pdf)

Visitors can enjoy events that offer great value for money in Leicestershire's award winning museums, beautiful country parks and excellent libraries. They include fun Easter challenges and hundreds of crme eggs to be won!

Easter highlights at Snibston Discovery Museum include:

  • Colliery tours with a former Leicestershire miner taking place every weekend in April and daily during school holidays.
  • A chance to see and smell Snibston's stationary steam engines as they come to life on Saturday 16 and Wednesday 27 April.
  • Children's drama workshops where budding actors will learn acting skills and get the chance to perform on the stage of the historic Century Theatre. Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 April. Pre-booking required.
  • An Easter egg hunt challenge for young entrants to win a free crme egg on completion of the hunt. Friday 22 - Monday 25 April.

Easter highlights at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Country Park include:

  • An interactive falconry display with Hands on Hawks sessions on Sunday 17, Tuesday 19, Thursday 21 and Friday 22 April.
  • Easter Battlefield Treasure Hunt with a chance for young entrants to win a free crme egg on completion of the hunt. Sunday 24 and Monday 25 April.
  • Wounds, Weapons and Warfare Weekend with Les Routiers de Rouen where characters from history come alive! Saturday 23 - Monday 25 April.

Watermead Country Park in Syston is hosting an Easter egg hunt on Monday 25 April. Visitors will be able to follow clues around the beautiful surroundings of the park leading them to a delicious chocolate egg at the end!

Craft activities are also being held at Melton Carnegie Museum, Harborough Museum and at Charnwood Museum, which is also running a museum trail. Libraries throughout Leicestershire are also running a fun-packed programme of children's activities over Easter.
