Sanjeev Gogana sentenced at Leicester Crown Court

A Leicester man has been convicted after more than a kilo of class A drugs were recovered from his locker.

Sanjeev Gogana (33) of Thurnby Lodge pleaded guilty to three counts of money laundering, two counts of drug trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon at a hearing in August 2010.

He was sentenced on Wednesday January 26 at Leicester Crown Court to six years and eight months in prison.

The Judge also ordered that 52,520 be forfeited under the Misuse of Drugs Act, he was also issued with a confiscation order under the Proceeds of Crime Act for 6,800.

In May 2010 officers approached Gogana in the Thurnby Lodge area of Leicester and found a bag containing heroin.

Following his arrest officers searched his home address and recovered a quantity of Cannabis, Cocaine and Heroin from the premises as well as electronic scales which were examined and had traces of heroin on them.

Two lockers also belonging to Gogana were searched and a large quantity of cash and drugs were recovered.

Detective Constable Gavin Collins is one of the investigating officers, he said: Gogana tried his best to cover his tracks and conceal his criminality, the evidence of his criminal activity was strong and led him to plead guilty at court.

This conviction sends a clear message to those who think they are above the law and wont get caught, the Force takes a very robust approach towards criminals who are involved in drugs and their distribution and will continue in our efforts to rid the streets of these substances.

During this investigation we recovered more than kilo of class A drugs, thats a large quantity of illegal drugs that wont be hitting the streets of Leicestershire.
