Detectives from Charnwood local policing unit are appealing for public help after some distinctive porcelain items of sentimental value were stolen during a burglary.

The incident took place sometime during the night of Sunday January 2 and early hours of Monday January 3 in Blenheim Road, Birstall when the property was entered and a number of items were stolen.

Amongst the items stolen were six Limoges porcelain items including an oval shaped box, a lidded box, two plates on stands, a jug similar to a milk jug and a perfume bottle with an atomiser.

The porcelain items all had the same design on them of an old fashioned 18th century couple, the picture on the items is of a man just about to kiss the womans hand. They were all cobalt blue and had gold edging.

A Nokia old style mobile telephone, cash and a silver Casio Exilim digital camera was also stolen during the incident.

Detective Constable Denise Reidy is investigating the incident, she said: The porcelain items were given to the victim by her mother and are of great sentimental value to her. The items are quite distinctive and I am sure someone will recognise the description.

If you know someone who has recently acquired similar items or you have been approached by someone selling these items then please get in touch.

The camera contained family photos and the owners are very keen to get the images back, have you seen a memory card discarded in the area in the last couple of days? If you can assist with any aspect of the enquiry then please contact us. Any calls received will be treated in confidence.

Anyone with any information about the stolen items or the people responsible is asked to contact DC 4212 Denise Reidy on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 4212. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
