Medal stolen during a burglary in Meadow Lane, Coalville

Police officers from North Leicestershire are appealing for public help in solving the following crimes.

Officers from North-West Leicestershire have received three reports relating to damage caused to buildings in Thringstone.

Sometime between 10am on Tuesday October 19 and 11.55am on Monday October 25 racist graffiti was painted on to a mural in Clover Place.

Between 11am on Wednesday October 20 and 10am on Thursday October 21 paint was stolen from a shed at St Andrews Church in Main Street and then used to paint the path and walls of the church.

The third incident took place between 11pm on Thursday October 21 and 7.50am on Friday October 22 when yellow paint was sprayed on to a number of homes in Main Street.

PC Colin Gardner is investigating these incidents, he said: These types of crimes cause a great deal of distress to the victims and make the area look untidy, Thringstone is a small village and I am sure someone may have heard or seen something which could assist with our investigation, if you can help then please contact us. Any calls received will be treated in confidence.

Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to contact PC 2040 Colin Gardner, quoting crime reference numbers: NW/06433/10-1, NW/06353/10-2 & NW/06407/10-1.

Officers from Melton are investigating two burglaries in the Asfordby and Gaddesby areas.

The first incident took place sometime between 12pm on Saturday October 16 and 1am on Thursday October 21 when a car was stolen from the driveway of a house in Main Street, Asfordby.

The house was broken into and the keys stolen before the car was driven off. The car, a silver Audi A5, was recovered in Leicester on Tuesday October 26.

It is believed that a small dark car and a silver car were seen in the Main Street area on Tuesday October 19 at about 1am acting suspiciously and police are appealing for further information.

Detective Constable Michael Young is investigating this incident, he said: On October 19 a silver vehicle was seen reversing out of Ridings Close, this vehicle didnt have its lights on, a smaller dark vehicle was then seen driving off ahead of the silver vehicle towards Hoby Road or onto the Asfordby bypass at speed.

Did you see any of these vehicles or do you know anything about the stolen Audi and its whereabouts between October 16 and October 26. If you can assist then please contact us.

Crime reference number NM/03065/10-3 refers.

The second incident took place sometime between 12.20pm and 1.20pm on Thursday October 21 in the Park Hill area of Gaddesby.

Someone broke into a house and stole a number of items including a platinum wedding band, spare car keys, a Swarovski mother of pearl pendant which had stars and flowers on it and a Swarovski star crystal pendant.

Anyone with any information about either of these incidents is asked to contact DC 2052 Michael Young, quoting the relevant crime reference number.

A medal of sentimental value has been stolen during a burglary in the Meadow Lane area of Coalville.

A house was broken into sometime between 4.15pm and 7.40pm on Saturday October 9 and a number of items were stolen including a gold Moscow State Technical University medal.

Detective Sergeant Wayne Simmons is overseeing the investigation, he said: The medal is of great sentimental value to the owner and is extremely rare if not unique in the UK. If anyone recognises the medal from the picture or knows if someone has recently acquired a similar item then please contact us. Any information, no matter how small, could help with our enquiries.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone with any information about the medal or the incident is asked to contact DS 924 Wayne Simmons, quoting crime reference number NW/06137/10-2.

If anyone has any information about any of these incidents they are asked to contact the relevant officer on (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
