A man involved in a collision in Worthington on Sunday died in hospital last night.

Police appealed for information yesterday following the collision on the B587 Nottingham Road, near to the junction with the A453 Nottingham Road, at about 3.20pm on Sunday September 19.

The collision involved two vehicles, a black Vauxhall Frontera and a red Vauxhall Vectra.

The driver of the Vectra received serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment. He died in hospital yesterday evening, at about 10pm. Formal identification is due to take place this evening.

The two passengers from the Vectra received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary for treatment. The condition of one of the passengers has been described as very stable and the second passenger has been discharged.

Both the driver and passenger of the Frontera did not require any medical treatment.

Detective Constable Patricia Draycott, the officer investigating the incident, said: "Its very upsetting when something like this happens and we hope that anyone with information about the collision will contact us as soon as possible.

The Frontera was travelling along the B587 Nottingham Road towards Breedon on the Hill and the Vectra was traveling along the A453 Nottingham Road in the opposite direction when the collision happened.
