Police in Beaumont Leys are appealing for witnesses after three houses were burgled on Galleywood Drive.

All three instances of burglary happened on the evening of Saturday May 30.

The first incident happened between 10pm and 7am on Sunday May 31, when the victim found a window to the property had been left open and items in the room had been moved.

Taken from the property was an Aspire Acer laptop, a Fuji digital camera, a silver necklace and a green a purple girls bicycle. The bicycle has since been found and returned to the owner.

The second incident happened at around 4.30am when the victim heard a loud banging noise from downstairs. Upon inspection she found that a rear window to the property had been damaged and saw someone in a light coloured top running out of the garden.

The victim found that the green and purple bicycle, stolen from the first burglary on the road, had been left in her garden.

The third incident happened between 1.30am and 7am on Sunday May 31, when the victim was alerted that a window at the back of the property had been forced open.

Nothing was taken from the property.

Due to the time and vicinity that the incidents took place police are linking the crimes.

PCSO Clare Bradley, one of the officers involved in the investigation, said: “We are hoping that by appealing to the public we will be able to find those responsible and make these people feel safe in their homes.

“If you was in the Galleywood Drive area on Saturday May 30 and can remember seeing anyone acting suspiciously then we would like to speak with you. Any information you have may help us with our investigation and so we want to hear from you.

“In light of the burglaries we have planned to increase patrols in the area and have posted leaflets through resident’s doors to make them aware. We would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to keep their homes safe and secure to help prevent burglaries at their properties.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 6559 Clare Bradley on (Leicester) 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 6559. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
