Robbery in Barrow on Soar
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery in Barrow on Soar.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Thursday May 21, when the 50-year-old victim approached a man he saw having problems with his bike, in an alley way between Willow Road and Nottingham Road, to offer assistance.
The man then asked the victim to hand over his watch.
The pair became involved in a struggle before the victim handed over his watch and a quantity of cash.
The victim then made his escape and ran off towards Willow Road.
He received minor injuries to his leg, arm and shoulder and was treated at the scene by the ambulance.
The watch taken from the victim was a Tommy Hilfiger watch with a white face and metal strap.
The man is described as white around 5’9” tall, in his late twenties, of a stocky build and had an Eastern European accent. He had short dark hair with a round face and stubble. He was wearing a blue or black pull over top, black jeans and yellow suede boots that were similar to work boots.
The bike he had with him was red.
Detective Constable Paul Burchell, the officer investigating the incident, said: “This robbery has left the victim extremely shaken and we are appealing to the public to help us with our investigations.
“Was you in the area at the time of the incident? Do you recognise the man described? Did you see where he went to after the incident? Any information you have could help us and so we urge you to contact us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 1340 Paul Burchell on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1340. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
