Robbery and assault in Braunstone
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed and assaulted in the Narborough Road area.
The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Sunday May 17, when the 34-year-old victim, who was standing outside his parked car on Erdyngton Road, was approached by a man riding a bike.
As the victim was stood outside his car, a gold Hyundi Atzo, the man approached him and began to shout abuse at him. The suspect then reached into the victim’s car, took his sat nav and rode off.
The victim chased the man to Braunstone Park but lost him. He then returned to his car and drove to Gooding Avenue and again looked on the park for the man, but could not find him.
Upon returning to his car, he found there to be around 15 men and one woman on the road, who began to shout abuse at him.
Around 5 of the men assaulted the victim causing him to fall to the ground. The victim managed to get up and run to a nearby property for help.
Three of the men followed the victim and again assaulted him, before kicking the front door to the property open.
The men then ran off along Gooding Avenue towards Hinckley Road.
The victim was helped into the property by the owner who called the police.
Upon returning to his car, the victim found that it had been scratched and dented on both sides.
During the incidents the victim lost his Nokia 6500 mobile phone and the sat nav taken from his car was a Tom Tom sat nav XL.
The man who stole the victim’s Tom Tom is described as white, aged around 18-years-old, about 5 ft tall and of a slim build. He had a spotty complexion and pointy features. He was wearing a black hooded top, with the hood up and grey tracksuit bottoms. He was riding a black and gold bike
A second man from the group is described as white, aged around 18 to 20-years-old, of a medium build and around 5ft tall. He was wearing a sweater with a red horizontal stripe across it, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
A third man from the group is described as white, aged around 20-years-old, of a medium build and over 5 ft tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
The victim received injuries to his face, right hand and wrist and leg, he later attended the Leicester Royal infirmary for treatment to his injuries.
Detective Constable Caroline Simmons, the officer investigating the incident, said: “This assault has left the victim injured and scared to go out and we would like to appeal to anyone who may have information on the incident to contact us.
“The incident happened early on a Sunday evening and so it is likely that people in the area were at home and may have saw the incident or the events leading up to it.
“If you recognise those youths described and can remember seeing them at the time of the incident or know them we would like you to call us and help us with our investigation.
“We would also like anyone who has information on those who damaged the victim’s car to contact us. Any information you have could help us, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”
