Officers in Wigston are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault on a 28-year-old woman.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Friday April 24, when the victim and her friend were approached by a group of youths on Blaby Road Park.

After a minor altercation with a girl from the group the pair left the park. The group then followed them to a road off of Lansdowne Road, and the girl then punched the victim in the face. The group then left the scene.

The victim received bruising to her face but did not seek medical treatment.

The girl who hit the suspect is described as white, aged around 15-years-old, about 5’6” tall, of a slim build and with brown, shoulder length hair. She was wearing a black and white dress with black leggings, black shoes and a black bag.

The rest of the group consisted of two girls and two boys all of a similar age. One of the group was in a wheelchair.

PC Tanya Lehane, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim has been left shaken by this incident and we would like anyone who has information on the incident to come forward.
