Assault and robbery on Western Park, Hinckley Road

Officers in Beaumont Leys are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault on Western park, Hinckley Road.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Friday April 3, when the 15-year-old victim was walking through the park with three friends and was approached from behind by a group of three youths, one of which was on a bike.

The bike was then thrown in front of the victim to block his path and one of the youths attempted to hit him, one of the other youths jumped on the victim and pushed him to the ground, all three then continued to hit him.

After the assault the youths left the park with the victims black Nokia 5800 mobile phone, in the direction of the Braunstone area of Hinckley Road.

The victim received injuries to his eyes and later attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The first youth, who originally attempted to assault the victim, was described as white, around 5'10" tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms with white lines down them and white trainers.

The second youth, who was riding the bike, was described as white, 6'1" tall and of a stocky build. He had short black hair and was wearing a grey jacket and black tracksuit bottoms. The bike was described as a big, black mountain bike.

The third youth was described as dual heritage appearance, around 5'6" tall, of a slim build and with short afro style hair. He was wearing all black clothing.

PC Lisa Dodds, the officer investigating the incident, said; "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or been in the area at the time to contact us.

"Did you see a group of three youths running away from the park, one of which would have had a bike with them? Do you recognise the people described? If so we urge you to contact us and help us with our investigation, no matter how insignificant you think the information you have may be."
