Indecent assault in Glenfield

Police are appealing for witnesses following an indecent assault on a footpath near Station Road in Glenfield.

The incident happened at about 6.30pm on Sunday March 15, 2009 when two girls, aged 15 and 16, were walking along the footpath that runs parallel to Station Road.

They were approached by a group of four youths who touched the 16-year-old girl inappropriately, and pulled down her top. She fell to the floor injuring her wrist and was later taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The youths have all been described as in their late teens wearing hooded tops, with the hoods up covering their faces. One was wearing a white top and another was wearing a blue top. One of the youths is described as being taller than the others.

PC Roger Stanley, who is investigating the incident, said: "This was a particularly distressing incident and both girls were left shaken up.

"Think back, were you in the Station Road area on Sunday evening? Did you see four youths matching this description?

"The incident happened on the footpath that runs behind the co-op supermarket. I would urge anybody who witnessed this, or knows who these four youths are, to contact police."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1946 Roger Stanley on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1946. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
