Bosworth Battlefield, owned by Leicestershire County Council, will be hosting a Spring Craft Fayre on Sunday April 5th, from 10.00 – 4.00pm.
A wide range of crafts stalls, from jewellery and hand-made gifts, to glassware and fair trade products will be on display at the centre, both in the indoor Heritage Room and outside in marquees.
The historic Tithe Barn restaurant will be serving a Sunday Carvery (booking advised on 01455 291048), as well as a wide range of snacks and refreshments throughout the day.
For children, there’s the chance to take part and have fun with activities including pyrography, where for a charge of £1.50 children can make personalised gifts including key rings and coasters.
There’s also the chance for families to test their powers of observation and deduction in a treasure hunt for all of King Richard’s Army’s weapons, which have been lost around the courtyard – keep your eyes peeled! Entry is just £1.00 per child, with prizes for all those who correctly locate the missing items.
The award winning interactive exhibition, which won the Bronze Award for Best Small Visitor Attraction in the East Midlands will also be open, with armour to try on, weapons to handle and even an interactive longbow to try – would you have made a good archer?
Guides will be taking visitors on a walk through history on guided tours of the historic battlefield trail and country park at 11.00am and 2.00pm. This is the ideal chance to enjoy the stunning Leicestershire countryside and discover more about the events that led to one of history’s most pivotal moments! Entry charges apply and booking is advised on 01455 290 429.
Ernie White, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, adds: “The picturesque and relaxed atmosphere of the battlefield makes it the ideal place to host a craft fayre, and there’s sure to be something to suit all tastes and budgets.”
