Robbery on Horsefair Street

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery on Horsefair Street in Leicester.

The incident happened at about 3.05am on Saturday March 14, 2009, when two men were approached by a group of four men and a woman.

Two men from this group then confronted the 19-year-old victim. One of them punched him in the face and the other stole a silver chain from around his neck. One of the men then kicked the victim.

The group ran away down a nearby alleyway in the direction of Dolphin Square. 

The victim received minor injuries and was treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He has since been discharged from hospital.

The suspect man is described as white, in his 20s, of stocky build, with short hair.

The second suspect is described as white, in his 20s, of thinner build, with short hair.

Detective Constable Matt Robinson, who is investigating the incident, said: "This was an unprovoked attack and I would urge anybody with any information to come forward.

"Were you in the Horsefair Street area in the early hours of Saturday morning? Did you witness the attack or see the men described, or a group of people running down an alleyway or in the Dolphin Square area? If so, please contact police.

"If you know who was responsible or have any information regarding the robbery then we want to hear from you."
