16 March 2009 Mothers go free at Bosworth Battlefield

Bosworth Battlefield is offering the chance to treat your Mum to a great day out, and better still – it’s free!

The award-winning interactive exhibition is the perfect place to spend quality time with your Mum, with eight interactive galleries bringing to life the deadly battle of 1485. See what Mum would have looked like as a medieval soldier in the dressing-up area, before challenging her to a test of skill on the interactive longbow – who would have made the best archer! Then watch the drama unfold in the atmospheric battle room, before trying your hand as battlefield archaeologists in BFI, Bosworth Field Investigates Research Lab.

Tickets through the exhibition are free for Mum with the purchase of any other exhibition ticket (Adult £6, Child (under 16) £3, Concession £4, Under 3s free) and are valid all day, from 10.00am - 4.00pm.

From 11.00am – 12.30pm there’s the chance for Mum to meet her knight in shining armour in Ambion Parva Arena. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the moment – it’s not every day you meet a knight!

Bosworth Gift Shop offers a unique range of Mother’s day gifts, including jewellery, books, candles, drawstring make-up bags, fine bone china and a beautiful selection of tapestry crafts.

Then, why not take a stroll through the picturesque and historic Battlefield Country Park, with miles of woodland and canal side paths to explore. Just a short stroll through Ambion Wood is ”The Ashby Trip” at Sutton Cheney Wharf, where visitors can watch the boats chugging past whilst enjoying refreshments from Café Wharfside.

Mr Ernie White, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet member for Community Services, said: “Treat your Mum to a day out she won’t forget by spending the day at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre. There’s lots to entertain visitors of all ages, and with a free ticket for Mum, it’s a great value day out for the family!”

If you would like to bring your Mum to Bosworth Battlefield’s exhibition for free this Mother’s Day, please book your place on 01455 290 429 or visit www.bosworthbattlefield.com for further details.
