11 March 2009 Car-less talk in county schools

An educational play which encourages walking and cycling has completed a tour of Leicestershire schools.

The play ‘Car-less Talk’ promotes the benefits of travelling to school by bike or on foot, the effects of car pollution and the importance of road safety.

The topics are covered from a humorous but memorable point of view by the MOMO Theatre Company, working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council’s Road safety and Travel Awareness Team.

The children who watched the plays were aged from five to 11.

Nicholas Rushton, Deputy Leader of the County Council said, “Learning about healthier and more environmentally friendly alternatives to travelling by car is important at a young age.

"Live performances can make learning more memorable and fun.”
