Burglary in Aylestone

Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at an address on Percy Road in Aylestone.

The incident happened sometime between 11pm last night (Monday March 2, 2009) and 6.20am this morning when thieves broke in through a ground floor window.

A 42" plasma television, a laptop and Playstation were stolen. A handbag containing a purse and various credit and store cards, that had also been stolen, was later recovered.

PC Stephen Wilson, who is investigating the incident, said: "The large plasma television stolen would not have been easy to remove. Did you see more than one person struggling with a large television? Did you notice any suspicious vehicles in the area? If so, then please contact police.

"Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the Percy Road area between the above times? Have you been offered any items matching those stolen? If you have any information about this incident then please get in touch."

Anybody with any information is asked to contact PC 1576 Paul Anderson on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1576. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
