Missing offender found by police

Benjamin Stanley Rodgeres
A man who failed to turn up for sentencing in a Class A drugs trial has started a 7-and-a-half year prison sentence.
Benjamin Stanley Rodgers (23) from Barkby Road in Leicester was arrested in Nottingham on February 19, 2009.
Detectives have been making enquiries to find him since September 12, 2008 after he failed to turn up at Leicester Crown Court. He had previously been found guilty of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, namely heroin and crack cocaine and was sentenced to six years in his absence.
Following his arrest he attended court again (February 20 2009) and was issued with a further 478 days on a recall to prison warrant. He will serve this sentence before beginning his 6-year term for the drugs offences.
Detective Constable Andrew Osborn from Central CID said: "We made extensive enquiries to locate Rodgers which eventually led to his arrest in Nottingham.
"He's now starting a longer sentence than he would have had to serve had he turned up to court in September.
"We hope this sends out a strong message to other criminals that we will do whatever it takes to bring them to justice."
