Robbery at Pizza Hut on London Road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at Pizza Hut, London Road.

The incident happened at around 11pm yesterday evening (Wednesday February 25) once the restaurant had closed, when three men gained access through a back door.

One of the men then threatened a staff member with what was believed to be a knife and demanded cash. The victim was not injured.

The men then made off with a large quantity of cash. Two of the men were seen to run down London Road toward the city centre and the third man ran down Saxby Street.

The man who was believed to be carrying a knife was described as being black, in his late teens to early twenties, 5'5" tall and of skinny build. He was said to be wearing black clothing with a hood up and a dark and white coloured bandana across his face and had a Leicester accent.

A second man was described as being about 5'10" tall and of skinny build. He was said to be wearing all black with a black balaclava over his head.

There was no description for the third man.

Detective Sergeant Nicole Main, who is investigating this incident, said: "We would like to hear from anybody who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time.

"Think back, were you walking or driving down London Road at about 11pm on Wednesday evening? Did you see anybody matching these descriptions entering the rear of Pizza Hut or running down London Road? If so, then please contact us.

"If you did see what happened, know who was responsible or have any information regarding the robbery then we want to hear from you."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS 4228 Nicole Main on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4228. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
