Photo Opportunity: Staff and pupils at Brookside Primary School in Oadby are celebrating their new mobile classrooms, and to mark the occasion, they are holding a special open afternoon for parents on Friday 30th January. They will also be playing host to a special visitor as the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, Tony Kershaw, will be at the school on Friday at 2pm.
The school has just undergone a refurbishment which included the replacement of four old mobile classrooms with two much nicer, air conditioned ones – one for children at foundation level and the other for children in Year 5. In addition to this, the school now has an extended playground area.
The open afternoon will allow parents to see the new classrooms and play area and enable them to see how and where their children are being taught.
Whilst at the school, Mr Kershaw will tour the school grounds, including meeting with some of the children in the Moderate Learning Difficulties Unit.
Lynn Bruce, Headteacher at Brookside Primary School, said:
"Here at Brookside we aim to provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere and outstanding care for our children. The bright, new look of the school reflects the high quality of teaching and learning that takes place here."
Tony Kershaw, Chairman of the County Council, said:
"The new classrooms have made a tremendous impact on the whole look of the school and provide a much nicer environment for both children and staff to work in."
