18-year-old man robbed in Coalville
Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Coalville.
The robbery happened between 11pm and 11.05pm on Tuesday January 20, 2009 as the 18-year-old victim was walking along Owen Street towards Jackson Street.
As he was walking he became aware of a car driving slowly behind him. As he continued turning right onto Gutteridge Street, the car followed him and stopped at the junction with James Street and again at the junction with Vaughan Street.
The victim walked past the car and shortly after noticed two men walking behind him. As he walked onto Highfield Street, one of the men approached the victim and grabbed the carrier bag from his hand.
The second man punched the victim before stealing his silver and black Nokia 6500 mobile phone from his hand.
The men ran off before getting into the car which has been following the victim previously. The vehicle is described as black or dark blue possibly a Vauxhall Corsa or Renault Clio with a 05 or 06 plate.
The carrier bag contained a pair of G-Star jeans, a red Nintendo DS lite, three Xbox 360 computer games and three Nintendo DS games.
The victim attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.
The man who assaulted the victim is described as white, between 17 and 18-years-old and around 5'7" tall. He had a chubby face and spoke with a local accent. He had very short dark hair possibly shaven and was wearing a black jacket and jeans.
The man who stole the carrier bag is described as white, around 5'5" tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black jacket, white hooded top and jeans.
PC James Seddon, who is investigating this incident, said: "This man has obviously been left quite shaken by this incident and I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the robbery to get in touch.
"Any information you can give us, no matter how small it may seem, could prove vital to the investigation.
"Did you see two men matching these descriptions acting suspiciously in and around Highfield Street the time of this incident or did you see a similar car in the area? If you have any information in relation to this incident, please get in touch."
