Two arrested following drug warrants in Hinckley

Two more people have been arrested as part of large police operation in Hinckley to crack down on drug dealers.

On Friday 13 January, officers from the Hinckley neighbourhood action team held a raid at an address on Rugby Road, Hinckley, where a 28 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. He was also arrested for money laundering contrary to the Proceeds of Crime Act. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

This drugs raid followed another the previous Friday (6 January) where a 35 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of class A drugs at an address on Edward Street, Hinckley. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. At the same property, a 28-year-old female was given a police caution for possessing an amount of cannabis.

These two raids form part of Operation Lone Wolf, which has been running since the middle of December. So far 25 people have been arrested for drugs related offences and 16 homes in Hinckley, Earl Shilton, Barwell and Burbage have been raided. Police are anticipating further arrests in the coming weeks for similar offences.

Inspector Martyn Ball, Commander of the Hinckley local policing unit, said: "This operation has seriously disrupted the sale of drugs in the area. Much of what has been recovered would have been sold locally and we have stopped this getting onto the streets.

"We are responding to the concerns of the community and are continually gathering information from various sources, including local people. Those who deal in drugs have nowhere to hide and we will catch them.

"We welcome information about anyone you believe is misusing drugs or you suspect might be dealing. We are asking the community to come forward and help us stamp out the problem by giving us the information we need to stop drug dealing."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Leicestershire Constabulary on (0116) 222 2222 or Crimestoppers which is *free and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
