19 December 2008 Loughborough Library's annual children's Christmas party

Photo Opportunity: Loughborough Library is to hold its annual Christmas party for children aged 0-5 years at 10 am on Tuesday 23rd December 2008.  There will also be a wriggly readers session for the youngsters to take part in.

The Chairman of Leicestershire County Council,  Tony Kershaw, will be attending and joining in with the festivities.

Mr Kershaw will also present regular Wriggly Readers with a gold book crawl certificate from Bookstart. These certificates are for children who have visited the library at least 40 times and have been produced in conjunction with the National Year of Reading.

Loughborough library holds twice weekly Wriggly Readers sessions and one on the first Sunday of every month.  These story and rhyme sessions are for children aged 0-5 years and their mum’s, dad’s and carers  and help to promote communication and language from an early age as well as instilling a love of books, this follows the Bookstart ethos.

Tony Kershaw, Chairman of the the County Council, said:

“Children and adults get so much out of the fun sessions and many have met new friends as a result of coming to the library.  Parents comment on how their children love and cherish books and this is important for their educational achievement.”

We hope you can come along and share in the fun.  For more information please contact:
