Lock'em Inn campaign drives down crime in Hinckley

Welcome to the Lock'em Inn, Hinckley
Seven people have been arrested as a result of the Hinckley and Bosworth community safety partnership's Lock'em Inn campaign, which has been running for a month.
The campaign has been set up to tackle violent crime and drink related anti-social behaviour in the town centre over the Christmas period.
The partnership enforcement work, which is being carried out over the weekends by the Hinckley local policing unit, the Borough council and other local agencies, has also helped reduce the number of violent crime offences to a six year low.
Inspector Martyn Ball, Commander of the Hinckley local policing unit, said: "If you are arrested on the Saturday night for a public order offence you could spend the rest of the weekend with us and find yourself in court on Monday morning.
"Our Christmas campaign has made members of the public aware that the police and council work together to tackle crime and we will not tolerate this sort of behaviour. Every measure has been put in place to combat drink related anti-social behaviour.
"A lot of extremely hard work has gone into tackling violent crime as well over the Christmas period and we are delighted with the reductions that have been achieved.
"We are not complacent, however, and are determined to drive the number of such offences down further over the coming weeks and months."
Those seven were arrested for public order offences on different occasions over the course of the campaign and received a £80 fixed penalty notice.
Ron Grantham, community safety manager from the Hinckley and Bosworth community safety partnership, said: "These figures are a testimony to the hard work the council and police have put into reducing town centre violence. We are extremely pleased with the success we have had so far but we know that we have a long way to go.
"We have a number of initiatives we are going to be rolling out over the course of the next twelve months to keep the momentum going!"
