People in the city and county are being urged to return questionnaires asking for their views on their area and the services provided by their councils, the police and the NHS.
At the end of September the city and county councils sent out questionnaires to a random sample of residents. Recipients have until 19th December to return the forms, which take around 20 minutes to complete.
So far the number of responses have been good but it is important that as many people as possible return their completed questionnaires.
The surveys are similar to hundreds taking place across the country as part of new government requirements. They aim to find out how well the different agencies are doing in delivering the services that matter to local residents, and whether things could be done differently in the future.
In the county the survey is being carried out jointly by Leicestershire County Council and the District Councils on behalf of Leicestershire Together and the district Local Strategic Partnerships. In the city it is being carried out by Leicester City Council on behalf of the Leicester Partnership.
David Parsons, Leader of the County Council and Chairman of Leicestershire Together, said: "The results from the new place survey will help us identify how well agencies are working together to deliver improvements and what further improvements are needed.
"It’s important that we hear from as many people as possible and I would urge everyone who has received a copy of the survey to reply in time.”
Cllr Mary Draycott, the city council’s Cabinet member for frontline services, performance and neighbourhoods said: a random sample of residents have received the questionnaire and I would ask everybody who has received one not to miss this opportunity to have their say on all public services".
The survey asks questions on a range of areas including what makes an area a good place to live, how much residents get involved in community affairs such running local clubs, and how well different agencies work together to provide services.
The findings from the research will be used to see how well the councils and other agencies are doing at delivering the services that matter to residents, and to decide what needs doing differently in the future.
