Information on Leicestershire

People living in and around Quorn can find out about future plans for the area next week.

At Quorn, Barrow, Sileby and the Wolds Area Forum, residents can learn about where new homes, jobs and facilities could be located.

The interactive meeting next Wednesday (12th November) will enable people to hear about how communities, biodiversity and the environment will be protected and enhanced.

There will also be the chance to use voting handsets to help influence spending on top priorities for the area.

Area forums are a great opportunity to for people to learn about bigger issues affecting the area, get answers to queries and influence local decision-making.

Anyone with a query about a local issue can also go along and and put it to officers from a range of agencies in a 'Question Time' session.

David Slater, Chairman of the Forum, said: "The Borough Council will present a consultation document containing its views on various proposed locations for housing in the Borough, in order that it might fulfil the Government's housing target for the area.

"This consultation document sets out pros and cons for each of the proposed areas of build. The forum provides the opportunity for people to learn about and comment on the various proposals. All views expressed and evidence provided will be taken into consideration in preparing the final submission document."

The meeting will be at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 12th November at The Old Hall, Rawlins Community College, Quorn, LE12 8DY and is open to residents living and around Quorn, Barrow, Sileby and the Wolds.

For more information about this forum please contact Richard Downing on 0116 305 5823 or go to www.leicestershireforums.org

Syston, Thurmaston and Wreake Villages Area Forum is being held on Thursday, 13th November.

Notes:

Area Forums are part of a new county-wide initiative involving Leicestershire County Council, District and Borough Councils, NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland, Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Together partners.

There are 27 forums across Leicestershire which bring together elected representatives across all tiers of local government - County, District and Borough and Parish, together with a range of other community representatives.

Although they do not have formal decision-making powers, forums are important bodies of influence - there is a 'duty to respond' to actions recommended.
