Bosworth meeting becomes record breaker
Posted on 04/11/08
Over 50 people joined in lively debate and helped make Bosworth Community Forum a record breaker.
A total of 55 people went along to the interactive meeting earlier this month making it the most popular forum held in the borough since they started last year.
People were able to find out more about plans for new houses, wind turbines and traveller sites as well as get answers to queries and influence local decision-making.
Community forums also offer the chance to put queries to officers from a range of agencies in a 'Question Time' session
Kevin Morrell, Chair of Bosworth Community Forum, said: "I am delighted that so many people came along and took part in the forum.
"We have received lots of positive feedback and people have told us that they found the community information available and the question time session particularly useful and also enjoyed using the voting handsets.
"I hope that residents will join us at the meeting in March where we will provide local updates and explore various topics that residents have asked for."
The next Bosworth Community Forum is due to be held at Bosworth Battlefield on 26th March at 7pm - residents who live in and around Barlestone, Sutton Cheney, Peckleton, Twycross, Sheepy, Witherley are encouraged to attend.
For more information about this forum please contact Sabrina Malik on 0116 305 5951 or go to www.leicestershireforums.org
Notes:
Community Forums are part of a new county-wide initiative involving Leicestershire County Council, District and Borough Councils, Leicestershire and Rutland Primary Care Trust, Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Together partners.
There are 27 forums across Leicestershire which bring together elected representatives across all tiers of local government - County, District and Borough and Parish, together with a range of other community representatives.
Although they do not have formal decision-making powers, forums are important bodies of influence - there is a 'duty to respond' to actions recommended.
