Community Speed Watch at interactive Belvoir meeting
Posted on 04/11/08
An interactive meeting in the Vale of Belvoir is giving people the chance to find out more about Community Speed Watch.
At Belvoir Community Forum next week, residents can hear from County Council officers about the project and how they can get involved.
The meeting is also an opportunity to learn about parish plans and use voting handsets to help influence spending on top priorities for the area.
The forum, on Tuesday, 4th November, is open to anyone living in the Vale of Belvoir and in or around villages including Bottesford, Wymondham, Clawson, Croxton Kerrial, Waltham-on-the Wolds.
Community forums are an interactive event allowing people to learn about bigger issues affecting the area, get answers to queries and influence local decision-making.
Anyone with a query about a local issue can also go along and put it to officers from a range of agencies in a 'Question Time' session.
Peter Holbrook, Chairman of Belvoir Community Forum said: "This is the second meeting of the forum and I very much hope that residents of the parishes will attend and contribute to the debate.
"The topics will be very interesting to everyone and involve a presentation on Community Speed Watch and a discussion on how parish plans can make a difference to local villages.
"There is also a question time session offering an opportunity for people to suggest topics for future debate and air specialised local interests."
The meeting is being held at 7pm at Long Clawson Village Hall, Back Lane, Long Clawson LE14 4NA.
For more information about this forum please contact Richard Downing on 0116 305 5823 or go to www.leicestershireforums.org
Details of other Community Forums in Melton Borough are below:
Melton Mowbray - Thursday, 27th November
Melton West and Parishes - Thursday, 4th December
Notes:
Community Forums are part of a new county-wide initiative involving Leicestershire County Council, District and Borough Councils, Leicestershire and Rutland Primary Care Trust, Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Together partners.
There are 27 forums across Leicestershire which bring together elected representatives across all tiers of local government - County, District and Borough and Parish, together with a range of other community representatives.
Although they do not have formal decision-making powers, forums are important bodies of influence - there is a 'duty to respond' to actions recommended.
