Information on Leicestershire

Officers are investigating an incident in the North Evington area of Leicester where a man was assaulted.

The incident happened sometime between 3pm and 4pm on Friday October 17, 2008 in the area of Duxbury Road. The 18-year-old victim received minor injuries.

The offenders are believed to have left the scene in a four door model red Nissan Micra which contained five people.

Also stolen during the same incident was a black Fiat Cinquecento, registration number N346 BHF, which has not yet been recovered.

Both vehicles are believed to have travelled to and reached the Saffron Lane Estate by 4pm.

Two men aged 21 and 18 have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Barraclough who is investigating the incident said:

"This incident happened at a busy time of day when parents may have been picking their children up from school on the last day before half-term holiday began.

"We're asking anyone who may have been in and around Duxbury Road between 3pm and 4pm to think back and see if they recall seeing this incident.

"We also know the vehicles were driven to the Saffron Lane Estate with the Micra containing five people, which is quite a large number for such a small vehicle. This perhaps rings bells with people.

"There's also the issue about the stolen black Fiat. Do you know where this car is now? Is it parked on your street?

"Any information you have could be vital to our investigation so if you saw the incident or saw either Red Nissan Micra or the Black Fiat Cinquecento in and around Duxbury Road or during their journey to Saffron Lane then we'd be keen to hear from you."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS 48 Nigel Barraclough on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 0048. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
