Information on Leicestershire

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was racially abused outside a pub.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Sunday, October 5 outside the Shoemakers public house, in Cockayne Road.

The 24-year-old Asian victim was walking towards Sharmon Crescent pushing a pram when she was verbally abused and had a glass thrown at her. She was not injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his late 30s with a skinhead and local accent. he was wearing a blue jacket.

PC Mark Spence, who is investigating the incident said: "This assault has left the victim feeling vulnerable and distressed.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time. Maybe you were having a drink in the pub and saw the incident take place? Were you passing by?

"We believe there were other members of the public in the area at the time and would like to speak to them. Any information could help with our investigation."
