The police in Rutland are holding two crime prevention road shows this week as part of the Government's ‘Not In My Neighbourhood Week' campaign.
The campaign, which runs from Monday 13 October to Friday 17 October, aims to highlight what is being done locally, day in, day out, to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. Crime fighting agencies across the country are meeting with hundreds of members of the public to discuss the crime issues that need to be tackled in their local area and to build confidence in the work that they do with the police to make communities safer.
The police ‘beat bus' will be parked on Market Place in Oakham on Wednesday 15 October from 10am-2pm and on High Street East in Uppingham on Friday 17 October between the same times.
Members of the Rutland Community Safety Partnership, including police officers and anti-social behaviour officers from Rutland County Council, will be available to give out crime prevention advice and talk about what is being done to tackle crime and disorder in the county. Also available will be leaflets on anti-social behaviour and a quantity of purse bells to encourage shoppers to think about the security of their bags and purses.
Inspector Sarah Cox, Commander of Rutland local policing unit, said; "This is a great opportunity for the residents of Rutland to talk to members of the community safety partnership and get lots of advice and reassurance about what is being done in their area to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. It's not just about the police, it's about community action and what we can do together to tackle robbery, burglary, anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and drug misuse."
Councillor Barrie Roper, Chairman of the Rutland Community Safety Partnership, said; "A lot of good work is being carried out in Rutland by the Community Safety Partnership and this is the perfect opportunity to find out more. If you have questions about the partnership, then the road shows are the ideal place to come along and meet the team".
