Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted on Blaby Road, South Wigston.
The incident took place at about 9.45pm on Friday October 10, 2008 when two men, walking along Blaby Road in the direction of Wigston, were approached by a large group of youths and kicked and punched. Both men received minor injuries.
After the initial attack, one of the men, aged 19, was the victim of another assault by the same group, further down Blaby Road, near Lansdowne Grove. He sustained more serious injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment. He has since been discharged.
One of the youths is described as male, white, in his late teens and with short frizzy dark hair.
PC Sarah Waters, who is investigating the incident said: "We would like to hear from anybody who witnessed these attacks or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time.
"The incident occurred on a Friday night in a busy area. Maybe you were out for the evening or shopping at the nearby Tesco and saw something?
"The group of youths were seen standing in a shelter next to the entrance to the Blaby Road Park. If you live locally and have any idea who might be responsible for these assaults then please contact the police or Crimestoppers, which is anonymous."
