Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man had his bike stolen in Syston.

The incident happened at around 11pm on Wednesday September 24, 2008 after the 24-year-old victim was sat at the bench on Melton Road at its junction with Broad Street.

He was with a group of six to eight men he had met earlier in the evening at the fair on Central Park.

As they were talking, one of the group threatened the victim with a bottle. The victim ran off leaving his bike behind.

Five minutes later, he went back to get his bike but it was gone and the group had left. The bike is described as a dark blue Raleigh push bike.

The group are described as white and aged around 18-years-old. The suspect who threatened the victim is described as between 5'6" and 5'7" tall with short brown hair. He had distinctive eyebrows with shaved lines in them.

PC Phil Rudkin, who is investigating the incident, said: "Thankfully the victim was not injured during the incident but has been left extremely distressed

"We would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen a group matching this description in the area in the evening of Wednesday September 24, or perhaps you witnessed the incident on Melton Road? If so, please contact us.

"If you know anything about this incident, recognise the description of the suspect or know the whereabouts of this bike, then please get in touch."

Anyone with any information about the incident or the offenders is asked to contact PC 2026 Phil Rudkin on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 2026.
