Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of thefts of bicycles in the Narborough Road area.

The first incident happened on Monday, September 8 at around 5pm when a girls pink bike was stolen from outside a stationer on Narborough Road.

Between 11pm on Monday, September 8 and 1.10am on Tuesday, September 9 access was gained to the back yard of a flat in Narborough Road and a bike, which was locked to a post, was stolen.

There was a further theft between 4.30pm and 4.40pm on Tuesday, September 9 in Shaftsbury Road when two BMX bikes were stolen from the back garden of a property.

At around 1.40pm on Monday, September 29 a Silverfox bike, worth around £150 was stolen from outside a bank. The suspect for this incident is described as white, around 18-years-old and of slim build. He had short dark hair and was wearing a grey and black tracksuit.

The latest incident happened between 6.15pm and 6.20pm on Monday, September 29 outside Planet Wok, on Narborough Road. The victim had left his Claude Butler San Remo bike outside the shop. When he returned he discovered it had been taken.

PCSO Leigh Spencer, who is investigating the incidents said: "This serves as a reminder that wherever you are, no matter how long you intend on being, you should always lock your bike up. It may seem like a hassle at the time, but it only takes a second for a thief to strike.

"We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious relating to any of the above incidents, or who has been offered similar bikes for sale."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PCSO 6047 Leigh Spencer on 0116 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted key in her identification number 6047. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
