Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Evington Place on Evington Road.
The incident occurred at about 7.15pm on Friday 28 August, 2008 when a 25 year-old man had parked his car outside of the shops and a dark blue BMW reversed from the junction of Evington Road to block in the car.
Two men got out of the BMW and approached the victim. One of the men assaulted him with what is believed to be a hammer, whilst the other man attempted to steal his rucksack.
The victim managed to kelp hold of the rucksack, but lost his car keys during the incident, which may have been stolen by the two men.
The man sustained minor injuries to his shoulder and leg.
The two men then drove off in the direction of London Road towards the city.
The first man has been described as Asian, about 25 years-old, 5ft 8in tall of stocky build with a chubby face and short black hair. He is also described as wearing a light coloured t-shirt and light coloured tracksuit bottoms.
The second man is described as Asian, aged in his early 20's, 5ft 10in tall of slim build with a slightly chubby face and short dark hair. He is also described as wearing a light coloured baseball cap, a white t-shirt, blue tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
DC Paul Vincent, who is investigating the incident, said: "We would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the attack or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time.
"If you know who these two men might be or saw the BMW in the area before of after the attack, then please contact the police."
Anybody with any information is asked to contact DC 2191 Paul Vincent on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 2191. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
