Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire at a supermarket in Oakham.
A joint investigation was launched following a serious fire at the Co-op store on Burley Road in Oakham. Police were called to the scene at around 12.10am on Tuesday, July 29 by the Fire Service.
The fire caused extensive damage to the premises and is being treated as suspicious. A joint investigation is now being carried out by police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
DC Pete Martin from Melton CID said: "A burnt out Vauxhall Frontera was found nearby. It is believed this vehicle may have been used in the incident and we are appealing for anyone who saw it being driven in the area at the time of the fire, or prior to the incident to get in touch.
"We are appealing to anyone who has any information or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area of the Co-op store after it closed at around 9pm.You may have noticed something that at the time appeared insignificant, but could prove vital to this investigation."
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 385 Pete Martin at Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0385.
