Officers are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in the city.
The incident took place at between 2.30am and 3am on Saturday July 19, 2008 by the entrance to The Village public house on Belgrave Gate.
The two victims, both aged 21-years-old, were sat on the steps outside the premises and were approached by two men who asked for a cigarette. One of the victims gave them one and they left.
Moments later, they returned with two further men and gathered around the victims. One of the men threatened them with a glass bottle and demanded the property from their pockets.
They handed over a Samsung mobile phone.
In their attempt to escape a scuffle took place and one of the victims was hit on the head with the bottle. They managed to break free and ran into a nearby nightclub.
He was treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary for a minor head injury. The other victim was not injured.
The suspects made off along Belgrave Gate in the direction of the African Village public house.
The first suspect is described as black, in his mid to late twenties, of medium to stocky build and around 5'5" tall. He was wearing dark blue clothing. The second is also described as black, in his mid to late twenties, of stocky build and 5'5" tall. He was wearing dark clothing.
The third is also described as black, in his late to early thirties, around 5'5" tall and of medium to stocky build. He was wearing dark blue jeans. The fourth is described as black, he was slightly taller than the others and of a slim build. He had a thin face and wearing a light hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.
PC Adam Verity, who is investigating the incident, said: "Investigations are actively being made into this incident and are currently studying CCTV images from around the area.
"We are appealing for the publics help in identifying and tracing these men responsible and would ask anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to please call the police.
"If you witnessed the incident, saw a group of men matching this description in the area or were perhaps were approached by the same group, please contact us.
"Any information you give us could prove vital to our enquiries, so please do not hesitate to get on touch."
