ORGANISERS of Leicester in Bloom are thanking people who have taken part in making the campaign such a success.
Judges visited Leicester last week to see the thousands of flowers planted across the city as part of the Leicester in Bloom competition.
The city council will find out if they are winners at the beginning of next month. In the meantime the huge effort involved in making the city bloom this summer lives on in the floral displays across Leicester. Organisers are encouraging people to go and view the displays for themselves.
Cllr Andy Connelly, cabinet lead for culture and leisure, said: âThe floral displays in the city look fantastic and are a real tribute to everyone involved.
âLocal businesses, our gardeners and council officers have all played their part in making the city bloom this year.â
East Midlands in Bloom judges focus on a host of environmental factor when looking for worthy winners â these include graffiti and litter.
Cllr Connelly joins the Leicester in Bloom Project Team in thanking the public for their help in keeping the town clean and tidy.
Stuart Marbrook, Leicester in Bloom co-ordinator, said: âA lot of hard work has gone into Leicester in Bloom this year. The sun shone on the day that the judges visited and the event was a huge success.â
Leicester won gold and silver gilt awards in 2005 and 2006 and a further silver gilt award in the 2007 competition.
The city will represent the East Midlands in the urban regeneration category in this yearâs RHS Britain in Bloom competition.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Nottingham on Wednesday, 10th September.
