The incident happened between 12.05am and 12.20am on Sunday July 6, 2008 as the two victims aged 16 and 17 were walking along Saffron Lane towards the city.

As they passed the junction with Saffron Way, they became aware of two youths standing on the pavement.

They attempted to talk to the victims and continued to follow them before meeting up with five or six further youths near to the junction with St Andrews Road.

The group followed the victims towards Duncan Road before they assaulted them.

The 17-year-old victim attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries. The 16-year-old also received minor injuries but did not seek hospital treatment.
