Information on Leicestershire

Officers will be ‘on the buses' in Wigston during rush hour to speak to residents about local policing issues.

As part of a joint agency operation between the police and Arriva buses, officers will be hopping between all 47 and 48 buses from Monday, July 7, to Friday, July 11.

PC Simon Newcombe of Oadby and Wigston local policing unit (LPU) said: "We will be jumping aboard the buses at their peak times between 7:30am to 9am and 4:30pm to 6pm.

"We are there to reassure the public of our ongoing commitment to provide a high profile presence in the area. It will also provide a fantastic opportunity to ask local residents about their concerns over policing in the area."

Posters have been placed in all Arriva 47 and 48 buses letting passengers know a neighbourhood beat officer will be available to speak during those times.

For more information about the operation please contact PC 623 Simon Newcombe at Leicestershire Constabulary on (0116) 222 2222 and enter his identification number 623 when prompted.
