Information on Leicestershire

Have you ever wanted to have a look around a police station?

On Wednesday night (June 18) Hinckley Road Police Station in Leicester is opening its doors to members of the public. An Open Evening will be held between 5.30pm and 8pm with everyone welcome.

Officers will be giving tours of the police station and answering any questions about policing that members of the public may have. There will also be displays, the chance for residents to meet and chat with their local neighbourhood officers, free bicycle post coding and lots more on offer.

Inspector Ross Dimmock, commander of Hinckley Road local policing unit, said: "We want to make Hinckley Road Police Station and our neighbourhood officers accessible to the community.

"The Open Evening should be an interesting event for all members of the public, whatever their age. As well as crime prevention advice and free bicycle coding on offer, there will also be activities for children to enjoy, such as having their finger prints taken or the chance to sit in a police car.

"Light refreshments will be served and any donations received during the evening will be given to Mencap and Age Concern. I hope the Open Evening is well supported and I look forward to meeting as many members of the community as possible."

For more information please contact Kim Sherriff at Hinckley Road police station on 0116 222 2222, extension 6826 or email kim.sherriff@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk
