Social care improvements
Posted on 16/06/08

PLANS to help improve the delivery of social care services for adults living in Leicester will be considered by councillors.
It is proposed that the council adopts the vision set out in Putting People First to help transform delivery of social care services in the city.
Members of the city council cabinet will also be asked to approve further work in the early stages of this project. This includes setting up a team to plan and manage the programme of work. Staff and people who use services would be involved in developing a new approach.
Cllr Michael Cooke, cabinet lead for adults and older people said: These proposals are at an early stage, but they mark an important development in the way we deliver adult social care in the future.
Putting People First is about tailoring services to give people greater choice and control over their support, so that people can be independent and fully involved in their local communities. We will need to look at all aspects of the services we provide then we can organise them in line with this more personal approach for all our clients.
The proposals will be considered at the cabinet meeting at 1pm on Monday 23rd June, at Leicester Town Hall.
