Belgrave and Rushey Mead residents invited to police surgeries
Posted on 13/06/08

Do you work or live in Belgrave and Rushey Mead? Do you have any concerns or issues that you wish to raise with the police?
If so, you are invited to attend a beat surgery held between 10am and 12 every Wednesday at Belgrave police station, Melton Road. Come and get to know your local officers as these surgeries will help to raise awareness of policing concerns in your neighbourhood.
Sergeant 1735 John Douds, for Rushey Mead beat said: "From previous community consultation meetings, completed questionnaires and analysed crime statistics, the majority of people surveyed were happy with Rushey Mead as a place to live, but there were obviously issues that were raised that we continue to tackle. The overall impression is that of a close knit community that assists the police in reducing crime wherever possible.
"We would like to thank everyone who has helped us in the past as this has resulted in a great reduction in burglaries and vehicle crime thanks to numerous arrests and prosecutions. The neighbourhood teams are always keen to hear of any other issues the community is facing so that, if necessary, we can adjust our policing priorities to target these problems."
Sergeant 420 Jonathan Flower, for Belgrave beat said: "Your views are important to us. We'd like you to tell us what issues you think police and partner agencies should be focusing on in the Belgrave area.
"We would appeal to all businesses or homeowners who may be affected by crime and anti-social behaviour to ensure they come and talk to us about what our policing priorities should be. It is also vital that the business community and members of the public remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity or vehicles to police without delay."
How to contact your neighbourhood team
To leave a message for your neighbourhood officer, telephone Leicester (0116) 222 2222 - follow the instructions and when prompted, enter the number 9085.
If you have any information to help cut crime please call the police on Leicester (0116) 222 2222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, which is free* and confidential, on 0800 555 111. * Please note some mobile phone service providers may charge for this call.
