Incident of concern in Market Bosworth
Posted on 13/06/08

Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of an attempted abduction on Station Road, Market Bosworth.
The incident happened at around 2.40pm today (Friday June 13, 2008) as a 15-year-old girl was walking along Station Road towards Market Bosworth.
A clean white transit van, with no markings, slowed down behind her. She turned and walked the other way and the van turned and followed. She again turned and ran the other way and the van turned and followed her. After the third time, the van only stopped following when a passing driver of a grey car with children inside intervened and pulled across the front of the van.
She then ran straight home and told her family who informed the police.
The driver of the van is described as white, in his forties, thin with facial stubble and greying in places. He was wearing a grey or white polo T-shirt.
PC 537 Phil Hale said: "This girl did exactly the right thing in running straight to her nearest trusted adult. She's obviously been very shaken by the whole experience but has been very brave and detailed in her account to us.
"I would like to speak to any drivers who may have passed the van on Station Road on Friday afternoon. In particular, the driver of the car that intervened and which may have collected the children from a primary school nearby.
"I really need to speak to these motorists as they could be key witnesses. I would encourage anyone who has any information about this incident to please get in touch."
